Air India Express is a low-cost subsidiary of Air India, which was founded in May 2004 and started operating from April 2005. The airline operates scheduled weekly flights to 26 destinations from South India to Middle East and Southeast Asia. Its operating base is the Cochin International Airport and regulates focused operations to Chennai International Airport, Calicut International Airport, Mangalore International Airport and Trivandrum International Airport. It is the first low cost carrier of India and operates serves the most number of international destinations as compared to other low-cost carriers present in the country.
